-Booker T, Bryan Danielson, Terry Funk and Todd Bridges have all been signed for Bloodymania 4, August 12th-15th at The 11th Annual Gathering of The Juggalos, Cave In Rock, Illinois
-Mickie James pulled out of her weekend dates with Tajiri's SMASH promotion citing a family emergency.
-Jim Ross has reported that Ricky Steamboat has been released from the hospital and is resting at a home of a relative in Tampa. He reported that Steamboat is expected to return to work in about a month.
Steamboat was hospitalized with bleeding on the brain for about three weeks, two days after a beatdown Raw angle which left him with headaches and a neck injury. Whether the angle and the problem were related was denied by WWE immediately, this hasn't stopped people questioning the timing.
-The report on Mike Korklan (who wrestles as Mike Sydal, the younger brother of WWE's Evan Bourne) from last night's ROH show in Chicago is that he took a wicked clothesline across the face and was knocked out cold. The match was stopped and it took 15-20 minutes to get him out of the ring. An ambulance came and rushed him to the hospital. It was believed he had a concussion but otherwise will be okay.
-Jeff Hardy suffered a hand injury on Friday night in Bloomington, IL, doing a Monster's Ball match with Abyss, but worked last night in LaPorte, IN and won't miss any time. Last night's TNA show in LaPorte, IN was an outdoor fair show and it started pouring once the show started but fans stayed and got drenched.
-At today's CHIKARA show in Philadelphia, it was announced that woman wrestling Hall of Famer Manami Toyota would be appearing with the promotion in September. Toyota was probably the best athletic performing woman pro wrestler of all-time
-Grizzly Redwood needed ten staples in his head after his match at last night's ROH show in Chicago due to a deep head cut.
-Independent wrestler Billy Reil is trying out for a reality show called "Phillywood," focusing on ten people sharing a house in the city similar to Real World. Damon Feldman, the Celebrity Boxing promoter in legal trouble for fixing fights which he claimed were actually pro wrestling matches with gloves is behind the show, which he hopes to start filming in September.
-Regarding the show in Scranton, PA that I was asked about on the show last night. I didn't have all the details. The deal was wrestlers were told they would be filming a movie and doing a wrestling show, and had booked Tommy Dreamer, Maven, Sean Morley, Al Snow, Raven, Larry Zbyszko, Baby Doll, David Sammartino, Shane Douglas and Charlie Haas. They were supposed to have an afternoon awards ceremony, but which they did do even though nobody was there. There was a meet and greet but only about a dozen fans were there. Maybe 75 fans showed up. The ring crew had put up a ring and was taking it down before the show started because they weren't getting paid. They were talked into keeping the ring up, We thought the show never took place but it actually started about an hour late. I believe everyone but Raven worked. He refused unless he got paid, which didn't happen. Ironically, the promoter did get him a plane ticket at the last minute to show up, which isn't cheap. There was a guy giving wrestlers checks after but nobody trusted the check after the whole shooting a movie thing turned out to not be happening. The police ended up being called and the promoter, Keith Stoddard, blamed everything on the movie producer, who was supposed to fund the show, not having any money.
-WWE and 7-Eleven sent out dual press releases on 7-Eleven being the main sponsor of SummerSlam, and its promotional ideas through 8/31, with John Cena, HHH, Rey Mysterio and Undertaker Slurpee cups and Big Show, Kofi Kingston, Edge, Randy Orton and Eve Torres on Super Big Gulp cups. There will also be a Coffee Cup with a Cause" with Cena's likeness and a portion of the proceeds benefit Make-a-Wish. 7-Eleven has guaranteed a minimum $250,000 donation. The release quotes Michelle Wilson of WWE and Rita Bargerhuff of 7-Eleven who claim the promotion is "a demographic match made in heaven."
Shave Your Face or John Cena Will Shave It for You!
-The new Sean Davis Project promotion that has gotten a lot of talk behind the scenes because Milton Wilpon of the Wilpon family is funding the group, was talked about on Boomer & Carton on WFAN. They talked about the Mets ownership being behind the new wrestling group and joked about them getting into wrestling. The Mets ownership itself has nothing to do with it other than Wilpon is part of the company that owns the Mets.
