www.f4wonline.com and
The Wrestling Observer Reports:

RVD reportedly signs with TNA.Prowrestling.net is reporting that there are many people within TNA who are upset that the big surprise of Rob Van Dam reportedly agreeing to a deal with TNA leaked out. Hulk Hogan dropped a huge hint while making a radio appearance earlier today (you can watch the video below) and apparently didn't realize video was being taken as he did the "R-V-D" gesture while hinting that TNA had signed a new major talent. It was also reported earlier by Roy Nemer that Spike TV even announced on their official Twitter account that RVD has signed with TNA.

Spike TV's Twitter page has been updated with the following note:

"HULK HOGAN confirms "Mr. Monday Night" RVD has signed with TNA Wrestling!"

-Angelo Poffo, the father of Randy Savage and Lanny Poffo, passed away this past night in his sleep at the age of 84. Poffo wrestled for about 35 years after serving in the Navy during World War II. He was a major star in the late 50s.

Lanny Poffo has issued the following poem as a tribute to his father.

'twas back in 1945
On Independence Day
The Nazi's had surrendered
Japan was on it's way

My Dad was in the Navy
As history will tell
As he was bleeding through the mats
A World's record fell

He did 6000 sit-ups
With an extra 33
To glorify our Savior
Who died for you and me

And Robert Ripley's feature
Celebrated this event
Giving credence to "SUCCESS
IS NOT AN ACCIDENT!"

That's always been his motto
Through times both good and bad
He's a REAL Hall of Famer
And the World's Greatest Dad!

Lanny Poffo

-WWE Gregory Helms and Paul Burchill who just completed a feud that I guess neither man won in the end. Helms' release likely came partially due to the public intoxication arrest a few weeks back.
Maria Kanellis, who just turned 28 last week, was also released, this coming just a few months after the fans themselves voted her the most popular Diva in the company.

Referee Scott Armstrong. This is a big surprise, since they need referees and they aren't highly paid, and Armstrong was well respected in the role

Also Charlie Hass has been released this week.

-Aaron Aguilera, Zodiac in All Japan, shot an episode of "CSI New York" this past week

-Sabu is scheduled to work a show in Tula, Mexico on 3/20 against L.A. Park

-TNA Awesome Kong has apparently been released from her contract.

-The Harris County Medical Examiners office revealed the death of Edward Fatu, better known as Umaga, on 12/4, was from a heart attack caused by mixing three drugs. Vicodin, Somas, and Valium.

-CHIKARA has purchased billboards on Route 95 around Philadelphia to advertise the King of Trios tournament, calling it the biggest wrestling tournament of the year

-WWE Maurice "Mad Dog" Vachon, to be inducted by Pat Patterson, was announced for the WWE Hall of Fame.

-TNA Mach-1 Wrestling school in Anaheim announced an affiliation with TNA this past week. John Ian, who has done ring announcing for UPW and PWG, is behind the school. Joey Ryan and Johnny Goodtime are the trainers and Brian Kendrick and Frankie Kazarian sometimes helps train people there, and Lacey Von Erich is going to get wrestling training there.

-WrestleMania The update on WrestleMania is official matches are Undertaker vs. Michaels, Bret Hart vs. Vince (not yet announced as a street fight), Batista vs. Cena for WWE title, Jericho vs. Edge for World title, Miz & Show vs. R-Truth & Morrison for the tag titles and currently in the Money in the Bank match are Christian, Ziggler, Benjamin, Kane, Matt Hardy, Swagger and MVP.

-Some notes from the first episode of NXT. One of the positives Bryan Danielson had is that while there is always the baggage of being an Internet star who never proved anything in WWE, there is a difference in the locker room. With the younger locker room, most of whom hadn’t started before Danielson and knew of him, they had a respect for him before they started in the business as opposed to them first being stars and seeing him differently. Plus, he’s such a nice guy and not arrogant in real life, and that helps a lot. Punk, for example, was at first seen differently and the bigwigs wanted him to fail, but he got over. Bourne also had that tag, and even though Bourne got over at first, it wasn’t like the talent there saw him as anything special as many of them did with Danielson. Punk and Jericho in particular both wanted him to make it. Jericho was the key because he was in the position to make him look good or bad, and chose to make him look good.

-Joe Doering, 27, who was a headliner for the past few years with All Japan, signed a developmental deal after his recent tryout and is in FCW. WWE had been interested in him since he’s 6-5,but trainer Scott D’Amore thought it would be better for him to get experience in Japan. He & Keiji Muto won the Real World Tag League tournament in 2007, and then beat Satoshi Kojima & Taru to win the tag titles on January 3, 2008, losing on June 28, 2008, to Minoru Suzuki & Taiyo Kea. He was good for All Japan as a small promotion as an American big powerhouse, but with all the big guys in WWE, it’s going to be much harder to make it because his in-ring doesn’t standout. He had worked for TNA in 2005.

-WWE is working on a Ricky Steamboat DVD.

-TNA released Traci Brooks and Roxxi (who was taken off the web site) earlier today.

-Mick Foley, Bruce Prichard and Colt Cabana's comedy show WrestleMania weekend will be 3/27 at the Gammage Auditorium at Arizona State University

-The episode of Cold Case with Roddy Piper has been moved from Sunday to 3/14 because they figured this Sunday probably wouldn't draw that big of an audience due to the Oscars.

-Piper will also be doing a show on 3/13 at the Hollywood Improve and 3/24 in Tempe, AZ as part of WrestleMania week at the Improv.

-Santino Bros Wrestling will be running a Dynamite D memorial Show on Friday April 9,2010 in Newhall, CA.

-There is a show tonight in Tijuana at the Auditorio headlined by Kendo & L.A. Park & Super Astro vs. Arandu & TJ Boy & Star Boy

-Billy Gunn vs. Cliff Corleone headlines on 3/12 in Dreydon, ONT for CWE

-Perros Del Mal They’ve announced a big show for 5/1 in Tijuana outdoors at the bullring with L.A. Park & El Hijo del Santo vs. Perro Aguayo Jr. & Blue Demon Jr., plus Charly Manson vs. X-Fly in a hair vs. hair match, and a cage match where the loser either gets his head shaved or his mask taken off with Mr. Aguila, Alebrije, Damian 666, Groon XXX, Halloween, Lizmark Jr., Histeria and Oriental.

-The U.S. Supreme Court this week ruled against Hustler magazine in its attempt to get a lawsuit filed by the parents of Nancy Benoit thrown out. The magazine published nude photos of Nancy Benoit, then Nancy Toffoloni, taken more than 20 years before her death, after she was murdered by Chris Benoit. Toffoloni had told the photographer to destroy the images when they were shot. The magazine had argued it had a First Amendment right to publish the photographs. Her parents filed suit after the photos were published. Hustler won the first round in court when a federal judge ruled in their favor in October 2008, throwing the lawsuit out, saying they had the right to publish the photos because her death was a legitimate news story. However, the family appealed to the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals in Atlanta, which overruled the original judge’s ruling, reinstating the lawsuit and ruling the magazine did not have the right to publish the photos. Hustler then appealed to the Supreme Court, which made its ruling on 3/1.

-Rip Hawk, 88, was hospitalized after breaking three ribs falling down and at last word, this led to him contracting pneumonia.
